Ready to have a soup-er good night? The Chowder Chowdown, put on by the Vancouver Aquarium, is happening later this month. Now in its 11th year, the Chowder Chowdown has top Ocean Wise chefs compete to make the best dang bowl of chowder this side of New England (or Boston).

The evening will host 15 different Ocean Wise chefs from around Vancouver, each gunning to claim the top prize. Notables include Ned Bell, Matt Marshall (Coquille) and Welbert Choi (Forage), but really, each chef has more than earned their place in the competition.

We would really love to try the Northwest Scallop Sake-Kasu Umami Chowder and the BC Wild Sidestripe Shrimp Chowder. Each bowl comes with its own local beer pairing though, so it’s really going to be a toss-up when it comes time to chow down.
